Research
Interests:
Karen’s
research has focused on the global
politics of “education for
all” programs and policies;
educational policy and reform in
Sub-Saharan Africa; the role of
civil society organizations in educational
change; and global education in
Canadian schools. She has published
four books and more than four dozen
articles and book chapters, and
is a contributor to dozens of policy
papers and reports. Her most recent
publications include “Educating
Children in Zones of Conflict<http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/educating-children-in-conflict-zones-karen-mundy/1103097181>”
(a book published by Teachers College
Press); and a series of papers on
the World Bank and public private
partnerships in education.
Karen is committed
to playing an active role in policy
dialogue about education and international
development, most recently acting
as an external reviewer of the World
Bank’s education activities
in Africa; and as an analyst of
Canada’s aid effectiveness
agenda in education. She has worked
on research with such organizations
as the Hewlett Foundation, the Open
Society (Soros) Foundation, the
International Development Research
Centre, CIDA, UNESCO and Unicef.
